In the novel, "Spirit of a Rare Breed" Addie is one of the main characters.
Addie is Sam's close friend and the owner of a Curly horse farm in Vermont. Not only does Addie breed and sell Curly horses but she owns and manages a therapeutic riding center. This program is a large part of who Addie is. Addie's Curly horses have proved to be the ideal breed for her riding center. Their calm temperament and hypoallergenic hair trait made them ideal mounts for her special needs children and at risk youth program.
Addie is a fiercely independent and determined young woman. Since her husband died, she and her young daughter have worked hard to breed, train and sell the best Curly horses. She is dedicated to her family and to her friend, Sam. Together, they share their love for the rare breed and work diligently to bring them to the attention of horse lovers every where.
Addie's husband Andy died when her teen-age daughter was a young child. Although Addie always looks for romance, she never allows herself open up her heart to another man. There is no one who can replace Andy in her heart or in her mind.
Addie is a strong, adventuresome woman and readers will love to follow Sam and her as they work together to bring attention to their beloved Curly horses.

Who is Samantha Steele?
I am asked soooo many questions about my novel, "Spirit Of A Rare Breed" and I find it fun to answer them. First and foremost I am asked "Who is Samantha Steele?" I think it's time to give you some insight into this interesting woman.
Sam is a composite of many independent young women. She is forty.. or so.. divorced and has two children. Although strong and loyal she has a fear of commitment to anyone other than family, friends and horses. Since her children left the nest and are dorming at college, Sam now has time to concentrate on her farm and Curly horses.
Once Sam gets an idea, she moves forward with great gusto and determination. She always sees her plan to the end, even if it doesn't work out the way she envisioned. Once her path it set, she will not let anything stand in her way.
Samantha Steele is smitten with Curly horses and has the wherewithal and desire to bring them to the attention of the horse world. She takes on the challenge of breeding, showing and writing about her beloved Curlies and in doing so... she finds herself. Her journey with her friend Addie, is filled with fun and adventure and I am sure all women will find something in Samantha and Addie they can relate to.
Sam is a woman who finally understands that plans are not always set in stone and changes must be made. Nothing in life is certain, and flexibility and willingness to take risks are what life is all about. She is a woman who evolves and grows as she carves out a life for herself and her farm, and she brings her friends along for the ride.
I hope everyone enjoys Sam's story as much as I did writing it.

Website
I love my new website. It was developed by my cousin Fred Pokrzywa and edited by my cousin Deb Koske. They are the best at what they do! Lucky to have them in my family.
Although it is still in its infant stages, I am sure I will have positive comments from all of you and some good ideas for any additions.
Thanks everyone ....for taking the journey with me. :-)

Good Evening
It's a funny thing about writing. I was just completing a chapter about a rescue filly in my novel, Rare Breed, when I opened an email that asked for help with placement for some rescued Arab horses. It made me feel so sad to see how many of these horses needed homes. I went on-line and found the original article about the 75 or so Arabs that were taken from a farm in Texas. Then I heard about a farm in town and how they adopted one of the horses. The mare was very malnourished when she arrived but is now at a good weight and quite beautiful. Such a great story!
